Mythbusters did this. They simply hung a pane of window glass over the detector. (On the end of a long pole.) Since window glass is opaque to IR, the detector was effectively blinded.
I have heard of this so its possible. The sights you would need to open to see it though are full of virus and I wouldnt recommend it. There is a movie about an asian girl who had sex with hundreds of guys like a production line and I think that is where i heard it done. Not sure about the title maybe it was just Sex the ****** ****** story ? I saw a documentary about her (not the actual movie) Was sad and very sick.
