Question:

Security alarm?

Trying to change the alarm code for our home security system. We have a Westinghouse keypad and an ADT monitoring service.

Answer:

That's a good question. Is there a reaction to chlorine and fire maybe making it burn hotter or something? I guess if they let untrained people help who didn't have the equipment to protect themselves then they would spend even more time rescuing the injured..be more deaths. Even trained professionals were stretched to the limits. Why not ask the FD the question about the pool I would be interested too.
People whose houses burned had to evacuate. The amount of water in a pool is not adequate to stop a fire. Even if you used every gallon out of the pool to drench your house, it would still evaporate in the extreme heat and the house will burn anyway.

I think that's a great question. I would envision a pump you could set up when you were preparing to evacuate your house, because I don't think staying in the path of a raging fire is a smart idea. However, maybe if you had a pump hooked up from your pool to an irrigation system (hoses or something) up on your roof, maybe that would be enough to do some good. Probably the FD can't get in backyard pools because they're squeezed so close together, but I think you have a good idea. I don't buy that the chlorine is too toxic if it burnswhat about all the plastic and furniture that's burning along with ityou don't think that's toxic? I don't see how chlorine could be so much worse.
People don't just keep high pressure pumps in their broom closets for spraying wter from their pools. I don't think a couple could do much good with a mop bucket either.
