Question:

Should I replace my motorcycle tires?

Hi, I have 8000KM on the clock, the bike handling is a little bit different now, ermm it‘s like when I make a turn at the speed of 70km/h or more, it makes me feel like it will crash, now I scared to drive fast in a corner, bike is just losing its stability. Is this have something to do with tire? I checked on it and the tread pattern looks fine. I am not sure what to do, and any other possibility? My english is bad, sorry.Kawasaki ER6N 2010stock tire: 160/60 ZR 17

Answer:

8K KM is about 5K miles, a little low for tread wear out, UNLESS the pressure is low. Tires are the 1st line of defense, replacing any tire you don't have confidence in is worth every penny.
Look for the wear bars on the tires if it is almost to the wear bars or past them then yes defiantly replace the tire, but if it is not handling too good then that is another sign you need tires. There is a possibility you have inflation trouble, or a belt has slipped in the front or back tire, the only way to correct this is get new tires.
If the tires are good and the tire pressure is correct it's time to check the suspension.Especially the fork neck bearing and the swing arm bushings. You may have a wheel bearing going bad too.You could have a shock going bad too letting the swing arm flex a bit more on one side.To check the bearings and swing arm bushings you need to have the wheels off the ground.
