Those early heads have a shoulder because they are a positive stop rocker arm, as in they have a torque value instead of the common method for setting hyd rockers. Now for the not so nice stuff, they may need a specific length push rod like the pedestal mount rocker arm. In short, get some rockers and push rods that match the heads specifying the shoulder studs.
