Question:

Sime boiler - Leaking water, does anyone know why?

Almost 10 years old, had various parts recently replaced, but working ok. Come back from trip away for 4 days (heating switched off and no hot water used) and found a big puddle underneath. Is this the end of it?. Thanks...

Answer:

oh no that doesnt sound right.. best of luck
Have a profesional look at it honest Ken
I dont think it is normal for your boiler to leak....get a Corgi registered plumber out!
Agree with Joe. As pipes heat up, they expand. A small leak when the pipes are cool is common, but not desirable. The leak may heal after a few days with the boiler off ( calcium and other minerals in the water may plug the leak naturally. ) run the boiler for a few days. If the leak stops when the boiler is hot, then it is a small, non-emeregency leak. If it continues to leak for more than a week with the boiler off, have it repaired when you can.
if the puddle is not getting bigger then it could of just been a relief valve dumping ! maybe pressure surge or something of that nature ! clean the water up and see if it still leaks, when you turn it off it cools and you get contraction , i would fire it back up and check it but i think your ok
