Ok I am so excited. I recently got a smooth green snake that was really big and kind of spongy. Thinking laying season was over, I figured she was just a good eater lol. Well, I found today she laid 8 eggs! How do I take care of them? Obviously she was fertilized when I got her. I moved them over to where the under tank heater is, with some coco-fiber substrate under them, and some over them--moist. Is this good enough?
it incredibly is a clue, garter snakes do no longer lay eggs, they are stay bearers so it should be the eco-friendly snake. shop the eggs heat slightly moist in peat moss or the like do no longer flow them around.
Guy above me has a good answer. But if any of the eggs are dented, the snakes will be dead, so throw them out.
Just cut the alarm wire and get it checked out
I don't know what the previous two answerers are talking about. Green snakes DO NOT care for their eggs. They lay them and then they leave, never to return. Get some perlite or vermiculite from the garden center at Home Depot or Lowe's. Fill a small airtight container with the perlite or vermiculite halfway. Add water to make it moist, but not so much water that the substrate drips when you squeeze a handful. Open the container once a week to allow fresh air in. Do not ever flip the eggs over or they will die. Keep them in a dark, warm place, preferably in the low 80's. I wouldn't let them get over 85 degrees or you risk frying them. Also don't put them under a heat lamp like one answerer said.
