Question:

Can i clean my Skateboard Bearings with Hair Clipper oil?

So i have some dirty bearings and im supposed going skating tomorrow and i wanted to know if using ANDIS Clipper Lube/Oil could clean or damage my bearings. PLEASE HELP.

Answer:

Clipper Oil
No. Oil doesn't clean, it just lubricates. Hair clipper oil will work for the lubrication part. It's usually just mineral oil. It evaporated faster than normal bearing oil, but it won't hurt anything. You will just have to lube the bearings more often. You need a solvent to clean bearings. Denatured alcohol is good, and so is carb cleaner.
Honestly i wouldnt try cleaning them! Almost everyone i know who has tried cleaning them, they have seized up after. So if i was you buy new ones even cheap ones are good. Swiss if you can afford it. Bones Reds or Mini Logo are very cheap! Also pop the sheids off they make them a little faster and sound really good after they are worn in! Let me know what you end up getting! :)

hi BH id say it be ok oils oil right ? why not use WD40 ? you really want a thin oil to penetrate the bearings - to clean them AND lubricate them wd does this.
