Question:

Special soil for cuttings?

I only have regular potting soil (of pretty good quality). I don‘t have any vermiculite or sand or transplant medium. Will my cuttings take root in normal potting soil? How about if I add those little white granules that hold water? Is there anything else I can do/add to make the soil cutting-friendly?Thanks! :)

Answer:

just keep the soil loose. Don't press in down in the pot. After inserting your cutting, cover the pot fully with plastic. This will keep the soil consistently moist so that you don't have to check it everyday. If the cutting has leaves you may want to cover those too to prevent them from wilting.
