Question:

stronger floor with ceramic tiles?

we are putting ceramic tiles down on plywood. does it make it stronger if they are closer together or further apart? what distance apart if you can tell me?

Answer:

The underlying substrate and installation technique is what gives ceramic tiles their strength and durabilityThere are minimum thicknesses of total substrate that tile codes call for for setting tiles.I go by both ATC and TCA guide lines when installing tile( American Tile Council and Tile Council of America The distance apart ( grout lines) are determine 1 st by the tile type and and some times personal preferences. You need special type of wood ( ply wood) and special techniques to do it this way. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there GL
