I am planning to purchase a new WRX this summer and wanted to know for the money which is better the upgrade exhaust system that Subaru offers or aftermarket.same question for the upgraded soundsystem they offer or after market? Thank you.
The exhaust is nice - has a nice little warble to it and works well with the rest of the car - unless you plan on doing many other performance also or need an obnoxious fart muffler I wouldn't waste money here. The sound system sucks - if you like your sound you will absolutely want to replace the whole thing.
I would go for the upgrade on the exhaust, especially if you live in a state with strict vehicle inspection laws (which most do now). It would be from the factory so you would know that it didn't violate anything and have problems with you yearly inspection (once again, depending on where you live). It will help the care breath and sound better, plus it would free up a few pony's. If you go aftermarket, you could void your warranty and have all kinds of headaches. For the Stereo, I would defiantly go aftermarket. That way you can get exactly what you want and there is a much better range of products. Word of advise though, if you get a sub in the trunk, be careful how they mount it. I learned that the hard way. The shop I when to put a screw through the trunk into my fuel tank!
