Question:

System restore problems?

I did a system restore because my integrated audio was acting weird. Now the audio is fixed, but most of my files deny access. For some I can take ownership, but for others such as my pictures, it'll say windows photo gallery cannot open this picture because you do not have the correct permissions or something like that. On top of that, I can't set my default programs to anything not on the list. For an example, I have .iso files that I want daemon tools lite to be the default program, but whenever i try to select it, nothing happens. I also can't get windows gadgets to work. HELP!!!

Answer:

Weak batteries won't cause the alarms to sound off. They will cause the individual alarm with the weak battery to chirp. My first guess is that the alarms are very dusty. Dust can cause a false fire alarm. Since your alarms are interconnected (when one goes off, they all go off), you'll have to get some cans of compressed air, remove the covers from the alarms and blow out any dust. You can use an air compressor but don't use more than about 5-10 psi or you could damage the alarm head.
If it is plastic, most plastic melts in blobs and globs. So use a butter knife or a finger nail and carefully pop off the globs of melted plastic and it should come out. Otherwise leave the oven empty and crank on the heat to HIGH so it is glowing red hot and the melted plastic burns to charcoal. Let it cool and then lightly scrape out the charcoal and wet rag it out. Should be good to gofor cooking.
while they are going off look at all of them., one will be different, the red indicator light will be solid or flashing- more than likely opposite of the others- this is the alarm that is triggering all the others to go off. either change the battery or the alarm or clean it out.
