Question:

Taxidermy related? Found a severed & dry bat wing the other day.?

Any safe way to quot;re-hydratequot; spread it to dry again in a better form?

Answer:

Using a laxative one time will not hurt you Get some dried prunes and eat 3-4 of them every day until your Bowel movements correct, correct your diet, add plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Get about 15-20 prunes and two glasses of prune juice, eat the prune juice with the prunes along with a few glasses of water, it will work just as good as a laxative
temporary fix: an enemaafterwards a laxative to get some stuff the enema missedthen diet - more fruits and vegetables and lots of water/jabril
A dose of laxative for occassional constipation is not going to make you dependant on themBy occassional, I mean perhaps once a month, or when you have overindulged, that sort of thingYou can form a tolerance to laxatives, even natural onesHowever, if you start taking fiber, its not physically addictiveI'm more for increasing the amounts of fruits and vegetables in your diet, but I have no problem with people adding metamucil to a daily regime if they need to.
Rehydrate the wing in a mixture of cold water and boraxNOT the hand-soap BORAXO, but the laundry detergent additive as in 20 MULE TEAM BORAX which is sold in almost ALL grocery stores in the laundry sectionA cup of borax to a gallon of water is sufficientThe borax helps to preserve the wingBecause the wing laid out in the weather for who knows how long after the bat died and was apparently eaten, there is a GOOD (and that's bad) chance that the remaining hair on the wing may slip (fall out)At this point, there is little you can do to stop thatAllow the wing to soak for at least a day or so before positioning the way you want itTo dry it, I would place it on aluminum foil which has been wrapped around a sheet of corrugated cardboard from a boxOver the wing, I would place a piece of fine mesh screen and would pin the screen AROUND the wing rather than through itThat should hold it securely until it driesDo NOT dry it in direct sunlightRoom temperatures will sufficeAfter a few days, remove the screen and cardboard backingIt should stay exactly as you positioned itA thorough wiping down with one of the antibacterial wipes should destroy any bacteria that was not already removed by the boraxUntil then, consider wearing rubber gloves, and ALWAYS wash your hands well after you have handled itDo NOT let others, especially children, handle or play with it!
