Question:

TEENS: Have you ever been suspended from school?

I did once in the 7th grade. I threatened my science teacher and got suspened for 3 days :(

Answer:

Nope. I narrowly avoided it once though. Me and a friend were smoking cigarettes behind an abandoned building across the street from the school before class. Apparently someone snitched us out, because the power tripping security guard came over to check it out. She ran towards the school when we saw him come around the corner, and I ran the other way. He chased her, since she was dumb enough to run towards the school. I just ran through a field, up to the street and walked back down to school like nothing happened. She got a weeks suspension, and I got a nasty glare from that security guard the rest if the year since he knew I was the girl who got away but couldn't prove it. We laugh about that to this day, many years after we graduated.
Nope. I almost got suspended because I used the fire exit instead of the normal door from across the hallway though. No alarms were raised or anything, so I don't see what the problem was. But I guess the teacher was just trying to exert her power over us mere students. xx
No. But I know people who have, and some were unbelievably unjustified. One girl got suspended for 3 days after posting 'ffs' and a teacher's nickname onto Facebook. The following week she won an award for her contribution to the school through the musical, dance troupe and her academics. so, that didn't make much sense. She's not going for a leadership role next year, in her final year of school, because that suspension has jeopardized her chances of getting it which is really sad. I've had detention once. And that was on the first day of school in Grade 9 or 10, I can't remember, where I had a 'uniform infringement' because my socks were too short. It was absurd. I did the time and now I always remember to wear the proper length socks, even though I wasn't aware that was a rule to begin with. Suspension where you stay in a room in the administration block at my school is called 'isolation' at my school and it's rarely used. I think it's more effective than suspension because at least then you can monitor if someone's keeping up with their work while being punished. Florence
