Question:

The off key does not work on my motorola cordless phone I can press it all I want with no effectIdeas???

I have 4 phones in this set and they all have the same problemSometimes the 3 key does not work eitherTech support said wipe them off with a damp clothWhich is just silly, cause they are not dirty/ stickyThe problem is more with the connection insideANy ideas on how to get in there and repair the connection??? Thanks

Answer:

These phones are not made in a way that allow home repairsIf they are like most of the ones I've seen, they don't have micro switches under each buttonbut a molded rubber pad that pushes a contact against the circuit boardThe contact has a coating that conducts electricity across two points on the circuit boardand wears away quite easilyI have had limited success using aluminum foil glued to the contactbut it's really small and a delicate taskI wouldn't attempt to repair these unless: 1) They are no longer under warranty 2) You are crazy like me and like to tinker with thingsand 3) Understand that once you open them up and start playing with them, they may never work againat all!
