Question:

Should I quit or be fired?

I am in a job where my boss hates me. I'm not great at it, but I'm not as bad as she thinks I am. It is a well paying job, somewhere I would have liked to have made a career out of. She pulled me into her office Friday and basically said that if I didn't improve by next week (which will be this week on Monday) that I would be fired. My old job said they would take me back in March when they hire again. I'm trying to decide if I should quit to give 2 weeks notice (which may be longer than i would be there otherwise if they fire me) and keep health insurance through February when myself and my husband will get back on the old insurance in March, or be fired and chance staying there a bit longer. I am willing to work a few part time jobs in February to keep up on money. I feel like a failure, but I've been trying very hard and I think I just wasn't qualified for this new job. I've been there since September and they say I'm just getting worse. Opinions?

Answer:

They can fire you for any reason and no reason unless it's discriminatory or you have a union or other contract. So yeah, they can fire you. But if you are a good worker, they won't likely do that if they are smart.
You can buy plastic mirrors, use aluminium foil or buy a space blanket and hang it on the wall.
