Question:

This is confusing MOTORCYCLE people.

I just got a 2003 yamaha r6 and realize only the left side of the light is on but the right side isn't (at low beam). I put on high beam and the right side lights up (left side is on all the time). Is this the way the r6's are designed?

Answer:

Its the way they are designed. look ont he resevior, the cap will say dot4 or dot5. Whatever one it is is the kinda you put in, you make be able to find it at a place you get car stuff. or you can go to a dealer and get one that is specifically formulated for bikes
1 light for low beam and 2 lights for high beam. The cap on the brake fluid chamber will tell you to only use DOT4. Dot4 is dot4 doesn't matter car or bike. You can get it at autozone, napa, advanced auto parts, o'reilly, or Wal*mart. If it just makes you feel better you can go get it from a dealer but it will be more expensive. dealership, A.K.A. Stealership
Its not a shame to use youre hand for the first times until you learn
On most bikes there is a way to adjust the shifter up.
Yes. Low beam, one light. Highbeam, two lights.
