what is the recommended tire pressure for a nissan sentra with low profile tires size 205/40/17 and 205/45/17
the best pressure for that size of tire is 30 lbs i put tires on all day it gives the best ride and wont where out low profile tires as quick
Check you tire pressure sticker. It's usually located on the drivers door jamb. Don't use a pressure that's different. It's the right pressure for the weight and balance of your car. Any other pressure would comprimise handling and increase tire wear. Not to mention, increase chances of blowout.
It's still 30 psi. The pressure on the tire is max pressure, including the pressure you will get from heat, which raises the tires air pressure.
Icheck what your vehicle recommends (normally on the sticker in the door jamb area). go up a pound of 2 of pressure and you should be fairly close. each vehicle will be a little different. if you want to know 100% what the best pressure is for your vehicle, pick up some chalk and find a nice flat smooth piece of blacktop (new parking lot etc). bring the tire pressure up to about 40psi before you get there. Once your there take the chalk and rub it all the way across the tires tread , do this so its a few inches wide. drive straight ahead for 10-15feet and look how the chalk wore off. if the chalk is gone in the middle but theres some left on the edges let 2-3pounds of air out of each tire. repeat the test untill the chalk evenly wears off across the tread. this dont really take to long and youll have the ideal pressure for your vehicle and tire combo.
Are you running both tire sizes at the same time?!?!?!? That's a big no-no. One or the other only. FWD cars should always have just one tire size all the way around. You don't say what model year this Sentra is, or what tire size was fitted originally before you fitted the 17's, which makes answering this question accurately very difficult. If the car was built in the 1990's and fitted originally with either a P175/70R13 82S or P175/65R14 81S tire then you should use a tire sized 205/40R17XL 84H (or any higher speed rating above H) at 37 psi front, 35 psi rear inflation pressure. If it was built after 2001 you need to consider a different tire size altogether and I need more info on the year/make/model. This is important, you need to select an "extra-load" tire with a service description of 84. A standard-load tire (service description of 80) does not have enough load carrying capacity. The smaller air chamber of the 17-inch low profile tire is why you need to increase the tire pressure so much, to equal the load capacity of the original tires which inflate to 33 psi front, 29 psi rear. If you put 30 psi in the 17-inch tires like the moron above recommended you will overload the tires to the tune of about 800 pounds at best causing them to wear at a phenominal rate at worst causing a serious accident.
