Tire question for motorcycle 100/90 18 (easy?)?

My dad has a Honda Nighthawk 450 1982. The front tire on it is: 100/90 18.I ordered a front tire from JC Whitney. They did not have a 18, and I looked it up on the internet and it says stock the ‘450 came with 100 90 19 tubless front tires. Will the 100/90 19 fit if it has a 100/90 18 on it right now? Did the person before me just put a smaller tire? Is that possible? Or did they put another rim on it?

Answer:

No, there's no way to mount an 18 in a 19 rim and no way to keep a 19 on an 18 rim. I guess it's a possibility that someone swapped wheels but my old CL360 Honda had 18 wheels front and rear. Most older big Jap bikes had 19 up front but several smaller Jap bikes I had all had 18' up front. Either way, order the size tire you now have regardless of what the internet or anyone else says.
