Question:

Tires from car manufacturer?

I bought a car 2 years ago brand new. I currently have 25K and one of my tire popped last night. I know that some tires can last up to 50K.Do manufaturer installed tires last shorter? More info: I only rotated my tire once at 15K, so that may have been a bad move on my end. I also did a lot of highway driving. Probably 75% of the mileage. I'm pretty good with tire pressure maintanence.

Answer:

tires let loose for a variety of reasons.....the tires that the manufacturer puts on your car are the same as if you went and bought that brand and model at your local tire shop......it could've been a manufacturer defect in the tire or you could have run over something...... tire rotation doesn't matter as long as your alignment is good......do you drive over rough road alot??....your tires will not last as long as if the roads you travel are smooth and pothole free.......BTW: tire rotation can actually cause your alignment to go even further out by moving a tire with uneven tread to a hub that is aligned will pull that hub out of alignment to accomodate the uneven treadwear.........the cure for uneven treadwear is proper inflation and alignment.........you should also replace your tires in pairs whenever possible to ensure your alignment stays true!!!
It was just a poor tire and don't be surprise if another one pops on you. Manufactures install name brand tires. Driving on the highway is generally good for your vehicle but that is where the most heat builds on your tires. You might want to purchase a new set of tires that are better made for the highway.
No, but some tire makers have a warranty. The manufacturer warranty is only on things that they make (ie the car). It's still worth a shot to call your dealer and take a quick look at you paperwork and find out.
you really never know listen I'm a tire guy been changing and repairing many yrs there are a lot of factors in keeping your tire long lasting,,, rotate and running the recommended pressure are the only way to get the best out of them you cant really go on what anyone say or what you read in a book on when it needs to be done for every car and every driver are different if you want to get the most out of your car then you have to have a routine and stick with it as much as one can 25,000 is a pretty standard and yes they do have them run into the 60,000 range i always buy the mid price range tire ...... here is a great article on tires
Car manufacturers do NOT use tires with shorter lifespans than any other tire off the shelf. There are hundreds of reasons a tire can blow out, but the least likely reason is the factory gave you a cheep tire. How fast do you drive? What are the roads like? High speed, or rough roads do tend to wear out tires. Without inspecting the tire I could not tell you the exact cause of failure, but blaming the car manufacturer, no they dont MAKE the tires at all. Check the tire brand and check their website for details about the tire. Are they performance tires? Those do have a shorter lifespan than normal passenger tires. Have the tread depth checked, they may all need replaced anyway. Buy a set of tires that both fit the car properly, and fit YOUR driving style and normal road conditions.
