Question:

too much cold air coming back into the boiler from the chimmney?

furnace keeps kicking on and off because too much air is coming back into the boiler from the chimney what can I do to fix it?

Answer:

is the chimney clear (no obstructions)?
Try cracking a window in the basement. If you get a good breeze, your house is in a negative. If this is the case you my need to install a balancing damper so when bath fans, dryers are running the house will get out side air. You may also need a draft inducer installed on the boiler to force the exhaust out. Try running the boiler with the window open and see if this helps. Good luck.
cold air is not turning your boiler on and off unless your thermostat is right next to it. the warm air should be rising up the chimney you may be losing a lot of air through other means and its pulling cold air down the chimney I would Look to see where you are losing warm air from the location your boiler is in
after working on boilers for 38 years i have only one thing u must do,,CALL A PRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if air is truly coming down your chimney then your boiler is making co,shut it off,if the flame is floating its making co,shut it off,,if air coming down your chimney is disturbing your flame u have no draft hood and its making co,shut it off,,,call a pro u will sleep better
