take the fitting that your replacing to your local hardware store ( LIKE ACE HARDWARE FOR INSTANCE) and ask them for advice. most of them will be able to help you figure it out. i have several lines i installed myself using pvc to replace steel pipes that were corroded with rust. they're are many different fittings available for that purpose.are you sure the pipes you want to replace are CAST IRON? sewer pipes are usually the only cast iron pipes installed in homes. the pipes with threaded ends are not cast iron. is this a sewer line your talking about? i went from copper to pvc, and steel to pvc. good luck to ya
