Are top loader washing machines really worth the extra expense? Since my 15 yr. old Kenmore top loading (w/ and agitator) washing machine broke, I've been reviewing front loaders thinking that would be the way to go, but the customer reviews have been nightmarish. Reports of troubles with mold, mildew, motherboards malfunctioning and vibration within the first 2 yrs. have turned me off. My Kenmore top loader lasted 15 yrs. , we never even had a one service call on it. Does anyone know of a front loader that has lasted more than 5 yrs. without majorly expensive problems breakdowns? I know a front loader is supposed to be more energy efficient, but w/ all of these issues I'm reading about...is it really worth it? Please help I'm desperate to make a decision. My kids, husband I do not want to go to the laundromat again. Thank you.
The newest EE top loaders are just as good as the EE front loaders. You are really comparing apples to apples with the new models. I don't know of any problems that plague all of the new front loaders, even the mildew problem is going away due to vents that allow air to circulate through the washer when not in use. I think the question is how much you want to spend, what brand you want to buy, what features your looking for, and what is more convienent pulling clothes out of a top loader or a front loader on a pedestal?
go with a top loader almost never break. Front Loaders just have to many problems and alot of them leak only after a couple of uses
i became like you till lately, couldn't confirm between perfect or the front loader. i finished up getting a the front loader have not regarded back. that is a splendor! Washes quite nicely would not use a lot water. that is a 7kg, plenty sufficiently massive yet i'd have sought after a swifter spin p.c. than 800rpm I do advise getting a gadget that measures the quantity of water required for the load. i am going to never pass back to a perfect loader. all the perfect!!!
They make energy efficient top loaders now. I've been checking them out as my next washing machine choice. They don't have agitators and use less water like the front loaders. They don't require those extra stands as do the front loaders and I don't see the mildew, vibration, etc. issues like you do with them. Check the link for info on one brand. Many others are also available.
I prefer the top loaders myself. Front loaders always end up leaking around the door within a year.
