Question:

Transmission Shift is Hard?

I have 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid automatic transmission, the transmission shift is little too hard when I am trying to reverse , drive or any direction. Also engine check light is on. Any idea what is wrong ? Whether this can be cover by Honda? Mileage on car 97500 - more than 7 yrs.

Answer:

Sounds like you need a new transmission
This can have a couple of causes. Have you checked the transmission oil level lately? Usually, transmission oil is red (very few exceptions to this rule). Is the color still what it is supposed to be? Does the oil smell burned, at all? When was the last time the oil and the filter were replaced? In some cases you can have a transmission flushed out and refilled. In many cases, contamination and impurities clog up and restrict oil flow through all those small valves inside the transmission. It's those valves that direct the oil flow and cause the transmission to switch from one setting to another.
Well not likely covered by warranty but, I'm sure that Honda could fix it. My warranty for my 09 Civic is 5 years or 70,000 miles.
