Question:

Transmission went out?

My transmission went out this morning and besides my overdrive off sensor flashing the car drove pretty good. I have a 96 mazda 626, what I am concerned about is if I need a new used transmission put in or if it's just a transmission belt of some sorts. I noticed it making a slight squeaking noise for the past couple of days. So can I save money and time if there is a transmission belt broke or do I just need to replace the transmission? Thanks is advance

Answer:

could have blown out your catalytic converter
you have more airflow going away from the motor with a dual exaust.
Man you need some nos, a new transmissions, Air box kits ect.
well i take it thats an automatic hu? im tring to read between the here. so your lookong at about 1200 buck with labor. maybe the next time you might consider checking the fluid level . good luck
750 for what? replacing the transmission or rebuilding the existing one? Either way sounds like one heck of a deal unless 750 is replacing with a used transmission. That's a risk in itself because you have no idea how that used transmission was taken care of or if it was abused. If you plan on keeping the car for a couple of more years and the motor runs well and you maintain it well, then I would recommend having your broken transmission rebuilt or having a rebuilt one installed. It costs more now to do that but could save you headaches later.
