Question:

Trig Identities - Preform operation and simplify tan x(1-secx)?

Hey, it would be a big help if someone could help me out with thisPreform the operation then simplify when possible tan x(1 - sec x)Thanks in advance for the help!!

Answer:

2tan(x/2)/a million+tan^2(x/2) = sin2x/2 = sinx it is the finest style.. you would be knowning that sin2A = 2tanA/a million+tan^2A :) captain matticus- i think of u at a loss for words it with (2tanx/2/a million-tan^2x/2) the published question has a + sign interior the denominator
Is there something missing from this one? Perform the operation... Perform what operation? I'm not able to simplify this one. As you show it above, it's not possible to simplify it. Unless I'm missing something...
tan x * (1 - sec x) = (sin x / cos x) * (1 - 1 / cos x) = (sin x / cos x) * [(cos x - 1) / cos x] = sin x(cos x - 1) / cos?x
=tanx - tanxsecx =sinx/cosx - sinx/(cosx)^2 =sinx(cosx - 1) / (cosx)^2 =1/2sin2x - sinx / 1-(sinx)^2 you can play with the identity and express it in different forms but i doubt you can simplify it further.
Cannot be further simplified.
