Question:

Turn off check engine light?

Turn off check engine light?

Answer:

not a good idea. you should find out what is triggering it or you may find out you've blown your engine
The check engine light is triggered by a fault in the emissions control system. It could be something simple (gas cap left loose) to things much more complicated. Take the car to an auto parts store and they will read the code stored in your car's computer and tell you what caused the problem. If you just want to clear the light (it will happen again unless you fix the problem), unhook the battery for a few minutes.
