Question:

Two visible copper pipe running up kitchen wall.?

I‘m having a solar thermal system installed in my home. It is an old home and the contractor has to run the piping up the side of the wall in my kitchen (w/ insulation 2 total diameter). In their contract the covering of this pipe is clearly outside the scope. How would you suggest I hide this pipe?

Answer:

My guess as to why they will not install in the wall is because of plaster, and that is understandable. So time to redo you kitchen. Get some rough cut 1 x 6's or 1 x 8's and make a box beam around the pipes over the ceiling and on the other side do this every four feet across the length of your kitchen.
The big question is why can't they place it in the wall cavity? The pipe is probably 1/2 to 3/4, but, lets say it is 2, it will fit in the walls. I wouldn't accept anything less. You will still have to repair the wall, but, it won't be intruding into the room. Now to your question. Build a chase around the pipe and paint same as the walls. People will see it, but, won't question it.
A good contractor would run the pipe inside the wall unless I am missing something.
