2. zircon ceramics (zircon ceramics)Zircon ceramics (zircon ceramics) refers to the zircon (ZrSiO4) as the main component of the ceramic.Properties: zircon (ZrSiO4) ceramic has good thermal shock resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance and chemical stability, but poor. Zircon ceramic thermal expansion coefficient and low thermal conductivity, the flexural strength can be maintained without decreased at 1200~1400 DEG C, but its poor mechanical properties, similar to the general production process of special ceramics.Application:1) zircon as refractory materials, has been in the production of glass balls and glass fibers with low alkali aluminoborosilicate glass furnace has been widely used, zircon ceramics with high electric conductivity and mechanical properties of dielectric, can also be used as an electrical insulator and spark plugs etc.;2) mainly used in the manufacture of high strength high temperature electric porcelain, porcelain boat, crucible, high temperature furnace, sintering furnace, furnace lining, infrared radiation ceramics, etc.;3) can be made of thin-walled products - crucible, thermocouple tube, nozzle, thick wall products - mortar etc.;4) studies show that zircon has chemical stability, mechanical stability, thermal stability and radiation stability, has good tolerance to U, Pu, Am, Np, Nd, Pa and other actinides, curing steel high level radioactive waste (HLW) materials ideal;Study on the relationship between the production process and mechanical properties of zircon ceramics has not been reported, to some extent hindered the further research on its performance, the application of zircon ceramics limited.
