Question:

Using HP charger with Gateway Laptop?

I am trying to find out if my laptop charger for my Gateway laptop is broken. The battery has not been charging and losing power. For it to charge, I have to unplug the charger and plug it back in. It usually charges for 1 - 2 percent. If I were to use an HP charger with similar voltage input/output, would it work?

Answer:

Gateway Laptop Charger
Do not use the charger if any of the spec.s are different for volts, ohms etc. it can damage your lap top. Does your lap top work OK just plugged into A/C power with the power/charging adapter, if so turn off and shut down your lap top then unplug the A/C Battery charging adapter, remove battery cover and battery. After a few minutes replace the battery and cover, plug it in and power on and see if it is charging if not remove the battery and have tested it maybe shorting out or gone bad. You can use the lap top with out the battery with out doing any harm. Hope this helps
Gateway Charger
well it mite work but the chance of that is slim to zero i wouldn't say you should because it will make your battery die out more and it will mess the computer up Trusth me ! i know
Actually, the chance of that is not too low. Many people do not know this, but some chargers for HP, Gateway, Acer, etc are actually compatible with each other. If you can tell me more information, then I might be able to tell you if you can use that HP charger: 1. Does the charger tip fit perfectly into the laptop? (if it does not, then don't bother trying anymore) 2. What's the voltage/amp on the charger and on your laptop? 3. The model number of your Gateway Laptop, and the part number or model number the charger is originally designed for. Good luck.
