How come the volume power button on my cable tv remote won't control my tv? Tv is hooked up to a DVR. The problem isn't with the DVR, or the cable remote. I don't have the original remote for the t.v. Thanks!
use the original tv remote the same thing happened when I got fios in my bedroom tv, the tv didnt read the volume on the fios remote so I had to use the original tv remote. O wait you dont have it, maybe you can get a new one at target or walmart and hook it up it should work. It's a littl harder to keep having to keep switching the remotes but you get used to it. Hope I helped!
In the manual there should be a certain code for programing your remote to the t.v. E.g. you would press like tv 34 or something to program the remote to work for a jvc tv. It should be in the cable/ dvr manual. You wont need the remote for the tv.
