press fit means the outer case of the diode is not wired, it makes its electrical contact by physical contact with the frame of the device it is mounted in. thus only one wired connection is required. make sure you have a diode of the correct case polarity when doing this.
press-fit is type of mounting, component is basically jammed into a tight place (slightly smaller than needs to be). the fit has to hold reliably as temperature changes.
