I am looking into building a still, and for some reason the hardest part of the design has been attaching the copper column to the pot lid. I have a 4 gallon stock pot and a 1.5'' x 3' piece of copper pipe that will serve as the column. I have been looking at getting special equipment to braze it, but I am assuming that I would also need to make a flange to braze to on the copper pipe(since 3 feet of pipe is alot to join by just the rim.) It seems like a load of hassle, so I've been looking at ways to buy special fittings to compress it to the lid, made out of copper or 304 stainless. Any ideas? Any links and info are appreciated.
