In regards to the one that is peeing the bed there are two steps to take1. bring him to his pediatrician to see if there is something wrong with his kidneys or bladder. 2. if there is nothig physically wrong with him then he needs to see a counselor to see what the emotional reason is for him wetting the bedin the mean time he should be the one washing and drying his sheets. As for the dicipline problem the only advice I can give is what my mother did with us..when my brothers and I didn't do what we were supposed to do we were stripped of everything but the basics of food, clothing and shelter until we earned back the treats in life such as T.V., radios, ipods, etc..we though she was the biggest b*tch in the world then.BUT..she was in control so we had no choice but to start doing better in school and adhere to the chore chart she made.each of us had a list of things we needed to do on a daily basis: shower, laundry, dust, shovel, sweep, etc so when a chore wasn't completed or completed to the ability of a teenage (not half-a$$ing it) she would just check the list of who was supposed to do what and whoever didn't do their assigned task didn't get tv back or whatever it is that was taken away.words don't work, actions do.good luck!
If the governor declared a state of emergency, that would suggest that traveling 25 miles to work would be difficult, if not impossible. However, in an at will state, your employer can fire you for any reason or no reason at all. Many employees take advantage of bad weather and other events to skip a day of work, so employers are understandably suspicious when someone doesn't show up during or after a major snow storm. However, if you are seven months pregnant, you should talk to an administrator at the hospital and see if he/she will give you a break here. If walking was the only alternative to public transportation, you should get a pass. That's true even if you weren't pregnant. Walking 25 miles in heavy snow is dangerous and most people are physically unable to make such a journey. You don't have any legal recourse here, but if the governor declared and state of emergency and the police urged everyone to stay at home, you have a good common sense argument. Besides, by the time you could walk the 25 miles in deep snow, your shift would probably be over and you would be too exhausted to work.
Where is their mother? Is she helping out financially? Do they see her at all? I take it that dad has primary custody. What abou sending the boys to live with their mother? For the boy that pees the bed: Has he been checked out by a doctor to make sure its not a medical problem? For the boy flunking: See if there are any free tutoring programs offered by the school or in the community such as at the public library. Maybe have him tested for learning disabilities. Teenage boys eat tons of food.
He could actually have a medical condition that may need some help from a doctor, also maybe a therapist? Something is bothering him, it has nothing to do with your parenting skills, more to do with something you or his father, or even himself may not know about him. So set up and apointment and see whats going on. The whole not listening, wanting more than you can give them thing, it happens to everybody, but even as their step mom, you need to lay down the law. Explain to them that you guys work very hard and theyre lucky to have what they already have. A roof over their head, food on the table, and two loving parents to be there when they need someone, if they complain, let them, they will realize one day how ignorant they looked as children. You have to make them listen, take away privelages, games, anything they may have, even their bed when it gets down to it, taking things away one thing at a time will eventually lead them to acting right. Teenage boys eat alot, theyre growing alot right now, dealing with puberty and all, youll have to deal with that and realize that this will help them be healthy grown men in a couple of years. But dont stock your cabinets with junkfood, find healthy things, they may not want to eat as much, but theyll eat healthy. .
Aaaahhh. The joy of teenagers. Teenage boys are a handful when they have been raised with values, morals, and respect. So to have two at home a year apart in age without these things are an even bigger headache. How long have you been married and do the boys like you? They could be rebelling. How long have dad had the boys? And did you spend time with them before you got married? Try talking to the boys one at a time with their father, because they can feed off each other if you do it with both of them at the same time. Also talk with them and not at them. If you have health insurance get some family counseling and have the boy that urinates in the bed checked in case it is medical. There is tutoring available for the one that is failing in school. I wish you luck.
