Question:

What can an iron deficiency lead to?

Lately I‘ve been just craving ice, and have been chewing 2-3 cups a day. I know, I know, it‘s bad for your teeth. So I searched why I‘ve been like this lately, and a lot of things are saying that it could be from iron deficient anemia.Isn‘t anemia the thinning of the blood? Also, what else can being iron deficient lead to?I have been a vegetarian for almost three months now, and I haven‘t been taking any sort of iron suppliment. Guess I should start doing that.

Answer:

anemia is basically low red blood cells. you can pass out, decreased energy and endurance, get out of breath sooner see a nutritionist about an iron supplement and possible dietary changes
I've been diagnosed with iron deficiency. But i dont have anemia. I take iron supplements. I find it odd for you to have iron deficiency if you are a vegetarian and probably eat veggies. The only thing i know of that can result from deficiency is anemia. Have a doctor check you for it. They test your blood they poke your finger and thats it.
Iron anemia can lead to dizziness and fatigue. There are good amounts of iron in oysters and mussels if you are a pescetarian who eats sea food. Nuts are a good source of iron and also iron fortified cereals such as Weetbix. Wheat germ and wheatbran are both rich in iron. Perhaps you need an iron supplement.
