Question:

What can scratch Aluminum?? Like on the new MacBook?

I recently gotten the new MacBook, and I am a bit paranoid. My question is what can scratch Aluminum? Because the new Macbook's have that Aluminum shell. I'm just worried if for some odd reason I can scratch it with my fingernail, watch, metal pen, etc. Thanks for your help.

Answer:

The metal piece on watches can scratch it. Watch out for those cufflinks too when you rest your long sleeve suit on it. Um...your cat, idk lol
anything harder than aluminum, which is most metals your fingernail is harmless btw.
yeah all the answers above true. but one more advice. in winter if your laptop gets the charge on its body and if by accident any short circuits or accidental discharge occurs than your computer can be crashed(damage to electrical components on motherboard) because of the tearing of the non-conducting plastic-aluminum.
When I bought my 15 MacBook Pro in May, the salesman at the Apple Store wanted to sell me a stiff plastic case (made of the same stuff on those iPod protectors) for my MacBook Pro. I did not buy it because I felt the plastic case will defeat the cooling advantage of the aluminum case as advertised by Apple. But if you are concerned about scratching you aluminum MacBook, check with the Apple Store. I bet they have a stiff plastic case for that too.
Aluminum can be easily scratched by many materials. Even hard types are prone to surface scratches. Your notebook may have a protective clear-coat on it, but that will only deter light scratches. Just accept that it wont always look like new and use it.
