What can you do if you are pregnant and your job fires you without you knowing?

Answer:

Forget calling the union as this is not a civil matter. They are in clear legal violation by not providing protective equipment. I would call OSHA or better yet MIOSHA (Michigan Occupational Safety and Heath Administration).
Usually you can twist the detector a quarter turn counter clockwise then you will be holding the unit in you hand. You will have access to the battery which you can replace. It can then be put back in position and a quarter turn will lock it back onto the plastic ring. 1) There are 3 types of smoke detectors. a) Battery powered. b) Combination (battery and hard wired to the electrical system of your home) c) Hard wired (120vac) only.Usually the Hard wired and combination are interconnected to other detectors in various locations throughout you home.
