Question:

What causes a bubble in a sidewall of a tire?

I had a brand new tire that I bought from discount tire online mounted today at a local shop. After they mounted it they informed me the tire had a bulge/bubble in the sidewall. Is this a manufacturing defect or can it be caused by improper mounting? Thanks

Answer:

Manufacturing defect.
GOOD TIRES SAVE LIVES! OF brand tires are JUNK usually! The BEST newer tires are FUEL EFICEINT ONES and a BUBBKLE in the sidewall happens , CONTIENTAL, BRIDGESTONE, YOKOHAMA, HANKOOK or even KUMHOP! If youa re TRYING to save moeny, try JUNK YARDS! many times a car gest SMASHED and JKED< but ha PERFECTLY NEW tires on it in a SET! This is MUCH BETTER thatn BUYING BAD TIRES with NO NAME and RISKY reputations! SEND THEM BACK!<<<HARDLY EVER BAD MOUNTING! The MACHINE does notusualy touch the SIDEWALLS and BUBLES indiacte WEAKNESSES in MANUFACTURE! WHAT DID YOU GET??
Tires are inflated to a known pressure - every tire is supposedly inflated to standard pressures. If the process of inflating the tire exposed a defect in the tire-wall - the fault is with the tire itself. This is based upon a series of reasonable assumptions. I would say the manufacturer of the tire is responsible, not the local shop. The fact that you purchased the tire through a discount tire outlet is irrelevant - the tire would be expected to perform its duty and function as a tire. In this case, it was faulty right out of the gate. You now have the job of proving that the tire you bought was in fact faulty - good luck with that.
its a defect.....the layers of rubber have disbonded and air is passing thru the layers....creating a bubble (or baby) on the sidewall........the tire is weakened by this....NOT GOOD AND RETURN!!!!.....any sidewall damage is BAD.....gouges, deep cuts, bubbles/babies, peeling, etc....ALL BAD
It's called separation of the plys. It's dangerous and should be covered under warranty.
