Ive attached a copy of my living room. Im trying to figure out what color curtains to hang. Ive removed one set of pillows and added teal pillows with the other set of pillows. What color curtains should I purchase??
I DO TWO THINGS WITH THE WINDOW COVERINGS/CURTAINS..I USE A DOUBLE ROD AND PLACE ON A SHEER SO WHEN I OPEN THE CURTAINS AND BLINDS YOU CAN NOT SEE IN AND THEN I DO A CURTAIN...IN FRONT OF THE BLIND..I PREFER A DARKER ROOM IN GENERAL..UNTILL I OPEN IT UP I WOULD GO A TAN...OR BONE..SHEER...MAYBE A LITTLE DARKER THAN THE WALL BUT NOT AS BROWN AS THE COUCH THEN I WOULD STAY IN THE EARTH TONES WITH THE CURTAINS.. LOWES HAS THE RODS AND CURTAINS BUT WALMART IS THE BEST SPOT FOR THE SHEERS...THIS IS A SOLID SHEER AND THE CURTAIN COULD HAVE PRINT...OR A TWEED WEAVE YOU COULD ALSO GO A BURGANDY SHEER THAT WOULD POP OR A GREEN LIKE SAGE..SHEER THE ADVANTAGE OF BURGANDY OR SAGE SHEERS IS YOU COULD FIND PILLOWS TO MATCH AND PULL THE COMBO TOGETHER THE PILLOWS YOU HAVE DO NOT POP...LIKE A BURGANDY/OR/SAGE WOULD..PLUS DRAW YOUR EYES TO THE CURTAINS.. THE THROW YOU HAVE IS A TOUGH COLOR TO BLEND OR MATCH...SO PUT THAT IN THE BEDROOM.. NOW THOSE PILLOEWS MAY WORK IF THAT STRIPE IS GREEN...ALSO A SOLID GREEN PILLOW NEXT TO THE PRINT WOULD MAKE IT POP MORE *(*
You call that tan? More like puke. When you said tan; I was thinking it was more a leather boot color(or rawhide leather jacket). I would go with white curtains(and you forgot to mention the floor color. And I am guessing the ceiling is white too? Then you want almost snow white curtains(full length drapes that reach the floor) with NO HINT of blue in the white. More on the brownish side of white. Same white as the baseboard. White is not a standard white. Open a few cans of paint by different manufacturers and so called white has (just a hint of: brownish, blueish, greenish, yellowish when compared side by side in the can. Then again sea pastel blue would also work as a straight drape color. It would go with white, and brown color. Lose the teal. It is a difficult color to fit. Or a grass green curtains that are lined so no light comes through as sun-light is yellow also works with white and brown. Ask any tree. Again the teal is history. Or 70's purple which goes with white, brown sofa - the wall color does not even come into play here but if you redo it do it in an orange. Lose the teal. Such a P.i.t.A. color. And do not use moulin rouge(pink), yellow or black. Tell you what...tye dye it multiple colors...no pink, yellow red or black Just the green, blue , purple on the white sheet. Use a white bedsheet to get a rough idea of what white drapes look like. As for sheers, I have installed a second curtain rod under the main rod so I can have white sheer on all the time to keep it private. The sheers are never opened but I can see out and no one can see in.
I would buy curtains that match the walls more, with perhaps a more golden color to it, to brighten it up a bit. I would also keep the blinds for privacy, and heat or cooling escape, and have the curtains swag over and both sides of the white blinds. If you have a paint sample of the color of the walls, and the teal with you when shopping for curtains, that would help you decide. But a golden/tan color would work the best.
I don't know if you've heard of this store, but Sin In Linen has like, the coolest home stuff. I think your living room will look great with the henna tattoo inspired print curtains!! Check it out! The fabric is a little more sepia, which would go with the chocolate couch, and your teal pillows will be a great accent color!!
