what color paint would go with the gray sofa like below?
Trust me, I am an artist...grey will look pallid with those walls. the brown sounds great...almost perfect. You want a bit of contrast. Red-Orange is complimentary on the color wheel but that's way out but w warm color will bring out the best in both colors. A cool color or neutral will look boring and you won't really know why. Ask if you can take home a cushion and just see. I just looked at your photos and the upper right is perfect. A warm nutmeg.
Any paint color would go since your sofa is neutral. Do you have an area rug or artwork to pull from to harmonize? What other colors are going on throughout the rest of the home? Think about how you want to feel in the room and consider the size of the room. Dark colors advance thus making the room feel smaller or more dramatic. Light colors make the room feel larger and the contrast of sofa to wall will make the sofa stand out more. Golds enhance gray. Warm colors, yellows, reds and oranges warm up a low lit room or northern facing. Cool colors do the opposite in a sunny well lit room. Just think of your sofa as a suit jacket. What color would make you feel the best? Choosing a paint color ties everything else together.
Lots of colours will look great with a dark grey. Blues/light grey/silver/white/bright green/red/orange/some yellows. You decide the look you want with the colours of the rest of the furnishings, accent tables, floors.

I would go with a COOL GRAY, very light, more white then gray. That sofa has a blue tint, with a subtle gray note. Yes, a much cooler gray would be super, on the accenting wall, go with a dark blue, more of a heated teal. Basically teal with black okay, really dark, rich blue. LOVE IT.
