Question:

what components is used to turn on a car?

i understand you need the battery to get a car started and the spark plugs, but what else is used in a car to get it to start? i ask cause when i try to turn it on sometimes it wont start right away, the battery is fine my sparks are good, but the car still has a hard time starting up.

Answer:

It's not necessary to turn it on every day, as running the car for a few minutes probably won't get to full operating temperature. But highway driving about once a week for a half hour or so is good for the engine especially in colder weather; highway driving will burn out the water condensation in the engine (which contributes to rust and water contaminating the oil). It's the stop and go city driving that puts most of the wear on the engine. Whenever the car sits for a while, I'll see milky condensation on the oil filler cap, highway driving takes care of that. Though with the $4 gas I'm not making those highway trips as much.
Well three main things that make a motor run are fuel, air and spark. most cars since the eighties are computer controlled by many sensors constantly sending information to the computer telling it what to do by measuring fuel/air mixture, temp, etc and if a sensor is going bad a check engine light normally comes on. you have to have a diagnostic computer plugged into a terminal inside under your dash to read codes the bad sensor placed to troubleshoot the problem. now if no light has come on then it could just be a number of things to do with a tune-up,such as air filter, spark plugs and wires to them or fuel filter.and that's all i know to tell u
Basically everything under the hood is necessary to start the car. Air filter, oil, battery, ignitions, ECU, fuel, fuel injector, pistons, valves, crank case, crank shaft, spark plug, wires, etc. You would have to ask more specific question and describe your problem more specifically. Good Luck.
It sounds like your starter is weak. It could also be that you have a weak battery that isn't putting out the right amount of power. A load test need to be done to know if that's the case.
