What do the actuators on a cars suspension system do?

Any links to additional information would be much appreciated

Answer:

Please, when asking questions such as yours, enter the year, make and model of your car. Not all actuator systems are the same.

countrey boy is right J, there are so many. Mehcnical, hydraulic and even Pneumatic actuators. Each operates differently and each serves a different purpose. To which you are you refering? I figure you're asking this question because your car is acting up. There is one really good suspension repair shop i always visit. Hope you get a chance to check out their website soon J
I assume you are talking about a car with an active suspension system that can adapt to different driving conditions and change ride height/dampening. If so, here is a link: www-personal.umich.edu/hpeng/IAV. If that is not what you are looking for, or if it is too complex for what you are looking for, a simple yahoo or google search will give you many options.
