Question:

what do you think is a true flaw to the windshield wiper system?

i know most may say their is no major flaw in windsheild wipers, but their is allways a flaw in an invention in someones perspective think hard.

Answer:

ice build up. no way to thaw where the wipers rest
There is no inherent flaw, since the system is designed to do a specific job that it does quite well, but there are certainly improvements that can and have been made. Most cars have fixed wiper blades that do a decent job of clearing the windshield in front of the driver, but depending on the shape and size of the windshield, the wipers can't get the whole window. Some manufacturers address this flaw by making complex wiper arms that change length to allow more of the glass to be cleared. These are overly complex and more expensive to make. As you can see, correcting a perceived flaw can lead to a complex system that is prone to break, in which case you are exchanging one flaw for another. The material that is used to make the actual blade can be considered flawed if it is too soft to last long, but on the other hand, a blade made of more durable material may last longer, but may not clear the glass as well. Some materials can actually scratch the glass. So, what it comes down to is that the system is a compromise of different characteristics designed to strike a balance of simplicity, complexity, performance, durability, value, cost, and safety. If there is an actual flaw caused by something that breaks or is actually engineered or manufactured wrong, one that would cause the system to break down or make it hard to operate, then there is an issue. But to say there is a flaw in the system simply because it doesn't meet all of your expectations is short sighted and naive. It would be the same as saying there is something wrong with my Dodge Neon because it won't go 200 miles an hour.
