Question:

What does a 700c wheel mean?

If a road wheel online says 700c, is there a particular width i need to look out for? Or are road wheels a universal width? because it doesn‘t say: 700 x something

Answer:

these answers are clear as mud.
See the link for everything (and more) that you need to know about wheel and tire sizing. a 700C rim is 622 mm bead seat diameter (700A,B and D are different diameters). Width of the rim varies. In general the tire width should be about 1.5-2X the inner rim width (width between inner surfaces of the rim) . see diagram at the link. The width of the rim recommended varies with the type of use the wheel is intended for. For example racing wheels are narrower (and lighter) than general purpose, touring or tandem wheels of the same (700C) diameter. The tire size recommendations usually reflect the rim width.
