Question:

What does a steering wheel lock do?

What does a steering wheel lock do? How would it prevent someone from stealing a car?

Answer:

well if you are talking about the one that is built in it keeps the wheel from turning and some of them are actually strong enough to be really hard to break without breaking the tilt steering knuckle (which is plastic) and if someone is good at stealing your car it won't slow them down. most car thieves break the ignition cylinder which unlocks the wheel and cranks the car.
A steering wheel lock, locks a strong bar across the wheel and keeps it from being turned. Before locking the wheel, you turn if full left or right so the wheels are cut and the vehicle is difficult to tow or push. If you're talking about a CLUB go for it. One luxury a thief doesn't have is time and if your vehicle has a steering wheel lock on it, most thieves will look for easier pickings. You might also get a discount on your auto insurance, check with your agent.
Here's some links to some of the suggestions mentioned above. One is a compression fitting, one is a repair clamp, and the last two are how to solder. I would do the solder, but compression fittings are good also. Hope it helps.
You can buy this little kits with a piece of slightly larger copper tubing that wraps around the pipe; a little soldering later the leak is sealed.
TEMPORARy just 4 now duck tape is cool. You may concider changing that piping to plastic.THEY seem to last longer. I have watch my father with copper pipe sealent or STOP LEAK you can buy at the plumbing supply store. BUT that pipe is worn other spots as well, so i would just go ahead and change it or you will end up like us mopping the house all day sunday and fighting mildew after wards.THE PLUMMERS DAUGHTER
