What does it mean when in addition to auto light not working, there is hi-pitched whine sound from tank(?)?
Gas tanks don't normally make noise HOWEVER if it is there's a good chance the tank is loose. PARK THE CAR. Don't take any chances with weird noises. It sounds like your gas tank may be near empty and the fuel pump is howling inside. The auto light sounds like something that may be part of the air conditioning. Try turning the air system off for 3 minutes and back on full auto. Put more gas in the tank. It the air system is cooling, what more could ask for. Don't worry about the light. It could mean that a fuse is blown and the forced air fan of the cooling system is not getting power. Find the blown fuse and replace it. Start the motor run the air system and see if it starts putting out cool again.
