I have a Honda XR125L4 (2004 Reg obviously)-Recently the end of my downpipe rusted It turns out I need to buy a whole new exhaust to replace it as it isn‘t possible to have a welder fix the end for me. So I was thinking, instead of buying a new standard Exhaust system, I‘d be better of buying a Sports Exhaust System for the XR, providing that there are any out there for a reasonable price?Names of the exhaust systems, approximate prices Whether or not they‘d actually help to increase performance would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Recently the end of my downpipe rusted' - but the rest of pipe still available? Cheap and simple- hose clamps and beer cans cut and wrapped around rust area. Works on left side of little CM400 trainer bike instead of $400.00 for replacement system or $80.00 for muffler. Increase performance? Unless you're sticking to 125cc for racing class or some legal restriction like in UK- get a larger engined cycle. See if muffler shop can trim out rusted portion of pipe and slip over a piece of pipe to muffler area or use hacksaw yourself and fit simple slip on muffler or a $20.00 resonator. You asked for reasonable price, I give you somewhat cheapskate usage but the price is lower than most sports systems that start at $200.00 up to $400.00 and make extra noise for their chrome looks. Rat bikes do have a sense of style and experienced rider image. (OK- also cheapskate image)
Its a 125cc 4stroke. Changing the exhaust will give close to nothing more in performance, maximuim 2 mph more. Id say try to get the original exhaust, as you wont have to use extra money on a tuning one and rejetting.
