Yesterday I pulled the plastic casing covering the fire alarm off in my dorm not knowing that would cause a minor alarm to go off. I notified my dorm Resident Director and she said she would notify the school officials and that this was a felony. Does anyone know what will happen to me, regarding my punishment? Also, I realize this was the stupidest idea of my life.

The best thing to do is call the alarm company or monitoring company and test the system with them to see if they received a signal. If they didn't then call for service. If they did, then demand, don't ask, but demand a read out of all events that happen for the past month on your system. Once you read this, it should say what time the alarm came in and also the time it was dispatched to the police. If you don't see this, then ask them for this also. This way you can tell if it was the alarm system's fault, or the alarm system isn't working right, or the cops were sitting in some donut shop and didn't care at all. But at lease you'll cover yourself and also the insurance company can't fault you if cops don't show up after they were called.
