Alarms are a high priority call, not low priority, so units do respond as quick as possible. Like another post read, the alarm goes to an alarm company, who then calls a dispatch center, who then gives the call to an available unit. One thing a lot of people seem to forget is that it actually take police time to drive to a call. We don't have Star Trek teleporters to beam us directly to a call, nor are we waiting around the corner, just in case the alarm goes off today. Depending on the size of the town and the size of the police department, the closest unit may be quite some distance away. I know of camps that have alarms that are 45 minutes from the closest town. Unless a unit just happens to be driving out in that area, there will be a long response time.
