Answer:

The idea is to cause a big temperature differential on the dented annealed metal, which will cause enough internal stress so it pops out to regain its original shape
Get a dent puller, looks a bit like a toilet plunger, sounds like you don't know what you're doing, so just take it to the body shop and save yourself the worry! Sorry! Really does depend on the type of damage!
How small a dent? Something that you can put your fist in or your head? On my truck, both are considered smallYou want it removed go to a body shop Nothing comical about itCostly yes because they probably have to repaint the entire car(depending on how many and where they are located.) You got to ask yourself the one question.how much beer am I giving up for this piece of scrap metal? Which is more important? And is it that important?
Most often not since the metal is deformed when it dents and it takes more pressure to reform the metal back to shape than methods like air dusters, pops-a dent and others can provideI have seen the dry ice method work on small dents/hail damage but you're talking dry ice temps around 100 below zero which can indeed contract or shrink metal to remove small dents, hail damage, etc.but you have to have some skills in knowing how to shrink metal in the correct wayPlungers can also work on large dents although maybe not entirely get rid of them.they can make it easier to fix dents with bodywork or make them less noticeable The best solution is to have a profesional PDR service done.Paintless Dent Removal.from a company like Dent Wizards or some bodyshops provide as wellBeware of imitators or poorly trained people who offer less quality.the PDR market is ripe for scamsThey usually run around 75.00 per panel no matter how many dents ( a fraction of conventional body repairs with bondo and paint) and I've seen techs do it with amazing results.like it never happened and no wrinkles in the paint even on hail damaged roofs and hoodsThe dealer/bodyshops I worked at had them come in all the time for tradein and lot cars and for bodyshop customers to save money on body repairs or hail claimsWe eventually had some bodymen learn the skills and buy the special tools.
