just wondering what A really good snow tire is? I want a tire with some tread like BF all terrain or something but just curious what kind of off road tire is great in the snow HELP!!!
Off road tires are not good snow tires, the main thing that makes a snow tire is the composition of the rubber. The rubber is designed to stay pliable in sub zero temperatures and grip snow, ice or cold pavement. Snow tires also have very small snipes these a designed to maximize thread edge area and give you additional ice traction.
its better to get a dedicated snow tire. offroad tires are better than all season, but snow tires are best in winter. because as the other person said, snow tires are made out of softer rubbers, so they stay softer in the cold compared to all seasons. i highly reconmend michelin x-ice!!! that tire is AMAZING! our rwd van never got stuck when we got them! the winter before, we got stuck a few times. if you want to spend a bit more, get the x-ice 2, even better!!!
